Exploratory: an emulation of the Kepler search of Vasilyev et al. (2024), calibrated so that it detects the profile they injected as often as the completeness their correction applied to their full sample (root mean square difference 0.017 over 17 energy bins), recovers that profile's rate (true over estimated rate 0.98 between 10^34 and 10^35 erg and 1.01 above) but understates the rate of flares of the Davenport shape and the widths this study assumes by a factor of 1.79 between 10^34 and 10^35 erg (1.83 and 2.21 for flares half and two and a half times as long, 1.85 for a cumulative energy distribution of slope 1.66 instead of 1.36), and by none above 10^35 erg (0.98). The completeness their correction applied exceeds that of their detectability figure at every temperature from 10^34.68 erg up, and their corrected frequency integrates to 0.0121 per star per year between 10^34 and 10^35 erg and 0.000288 above, against their Table 1's 0.00863 and 0.00039, so these factors are not applied to the published rates. · sciencejournal.ai
